First, welcome to our island, our home, sunny and beautiful St. Thomas!
GETTING HERE: When booking from your home airport, you will be traveling to STT -Cyril E. King airport. Best airlines are: American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines. You will be able to find fares on Spirit Airlines and many other smaller regional jets. Beware when booking. Traveling to the USVI does not require a passport.
TRAVELING ON GROUND: If you want to rent a car, know that we drive on the left side. It's not as bad as you think. Give it a try. The speed limit on island is typically 20MPH. Locals will drive faster, but will generally watch out for non-locals. We have national rental car agencies here, such as Hertz, Avis, Budget and more. An alternate mode of transportation is the local safari. Think of it similar to your local public transporation at home. Just in this case you are riding in the back of an open pick-up truck, with seats of course. Otherwise, there's the good ol' fashion way - TAXI. Unfortunately, we do not have Uber or Lyft. Due to the nature of this weekend, as hosts, we will regrettably not be able to cater to guest ground transportation needs.
WHERE TO STAY: We invite you to book using the accommodation resources we've provided or use your own. The island is 13 miles long and anywhere is a quick 20 minute ride. While we would love to host everyone, it's just not feasible. To be fair, our home will be reserved for parents only.
WHAT TO PACK: It's a consistent 85*F here. And in June, you may experience a little warmer weather. Cool and breezy summer clothing and beachwear are most appropriate. The mosquito is our official pest. Insect repellent is another important packing item. Be prepared to lather on plenty of sunscreen. A hat is not a bad idea either.
RESTAURANTS: There will be plenty of food and libations throughout the weekend. But if you choose to explore on your own, here are some of our favorites:
PHARMACY/MEDICAL: Options on St. Thomas are limited. If you have prescription needs, we do have Walgreens on island (4030 Annas Retreat; (340) 777-9255 ). There are also plenty of other local pharmacy options, such as: Doctor's Choice Pharmacy (9400 Wheatley Shopping Center; (340) 777-1400 ) and The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy (9400 Wheatley Shopping Center; (340) 776-1235 ). If you require medical care, try Red Hook Family Practice (6500 Red Hook Plaza; (340) 775-2303) or Schneider Regional Hospital (9048 Alton Adams Sr Dr.; (340) 776-8311).
BEACHES: We won't have the opportunity to share every beach with you. Please be encourage to explore our beautiful beaches. You'll experience some of the most beautiful turquoise waters in the Caribbean. Beaches we suggest you not miss:
ST. JOHN (STJ) ISLAND: Looking for low-key down time? St. John is a beautiful island to visit and it's only a 12-minute ferry ride away. There are two ferry routes. The shortest route is between Red Hook on St. Thomas and Cruz Bay on St. John. Expect to pay $7.00 each way, takes approximately 12 minutes and runs hourly between 6:00 am and Midnight. The longer ferry route runs from downtown Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas also to Cruz Bay on St. John. The earliest ride leaves Cruz Bay at 8:45am in the morning and the latest returns from Charlotte Amalie at 5:30 pm in the evening. That run costs $12.00 each way and takes approximately 40 minutes.
